Pool Fab create a resort style pool and aquatic landscape environment for this stunning waterfront home on the Sunshine Coast.
The inspiration for this project was a contemporary resort theme to tie in with the home’s waterside location. “Our clients wanted the feeling of holidaying at home,” says Sean Lynch, founder of award-winning Ecozen Pools + Landscapes, and The Ecozen Group that acquired Pool Fab in late 2017. “We’ve designed spaces that enhance the outdoor lifestyle of the family to be enjoyed day or night, with a seamless flow between the house and the outdoor pool to really show off the spectacular setting.”
With this kind of location comes the challenges of access and the additional foundations required when building so close to the water. Smaller machinery had to be used for the excavations, while the project foundation requirements were designed with Pool Fab’s experienced engineers, which is all a part of Pool Fab’s unique all-inclusive design and construction service.
“The project also required some terracing and retainer wall to be designed and built in, and the pool shell itself was built above the ground to reduce the height changes in the space,” says Sean. “The result is the retainer walls being used to create the resort-style daybeds, and the raised pool shell height creates an infinity edge look over the waterfront to show off the location from every angle.”
To help further the contemporary resort feel, the client wanted to use natural materials combined with an eco-smart approach. The large format natural granite pool coping and surrounds tiles as well as the plantation grown sustainable timbers for the decking and bench seating all lay the foundations for the overall aesthetics.
The latest in eco-smart technology features in the pool operating system, from LED lighting, fresh water chlorination systems, and variable speed pump systems.
“For me, the standout features of this project is the resort feel that we’ve been able to achieve for the completed space,” says Sean. “The stunning wrap around water feature around the skillion roof pool house, which is accessible by the suspended timber bridge and deck area, creates a feeling of island living.”
